Wood carving, like stone carving, is another of the greatest artistic expressions of the ancient Mayans. Today, artisans work sustainably with native woods from the jungle in the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve in Campeche. As part of their preparation process, the woods undergo a long drying process before being worked and turned into unique pieces.
